All Shostakovich Symphonies to be performed at “Zaraydye” Hall

This year marks the 115th anniversary of the birth of Dmitry Shostakovich. In this connection, we are glad to offer you the unique opportunity to listen to all the symphonies of the great composer performed live at the “Zaryadye” Hall, throughout the year: from the 17th of February to the 24th of December 2021.

ATTENTION! THE FIRST CONCERT OF THE CYCLE IS IN A FEW DAYS!

Orchestras from Moscow and other cities, outstanding conductors and soloists – they all take part in the project conceived by “Zaryadye” Hall.

Arguably, Dmitry Shostakovich is one of the greatest composers of the 20th century. He redefined all the genres he ever touched on. But first and foremost, he’s a great symphonist. The 15 symphonies written by Shostakovich is a subtle chronicle of the controversial 20th century, the vile, vicious, and victorious one.

The farther we are from the composer’s time, the clearer we see the magnitude of is oeuvre. But, at the same time, the more explanations are required, for social context is of great importance in this case. For this purpose, journalists, and musicologists would speak to the audience on a certain symphony. Lectures “Talk about Shostakovich” will take place an hour before each concert (to visit a lecture, register at our website).
