About the concert of pianist Alexey Goribol and tenor Bogdan Volkov “To Leonid Desyatnikov’s Anniversary”

“Night Without Author”, “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” review

In October, famous contemporary Russian composer Leonid Desyatnikov turned 65. The concert to commemorate his birthday took place in “Zaryadye” Hall on the 2nd of December. Renowned pianist and friend of Desyatnikov, Alexey Goribol, spearheaded the birthday concert. The setlist featured two truly phenomenal chamber opuses, “Songs of Bukovina” (24 preludes for piano), and a vocal cycle called, as well as a bit of a soundtrack music as a smooth “transition” from one art reality to the other. Goribol, tenor Bogdan Volkov, and, of course the composer himself were the stars of the night.
