The new series of concerts “I am Composer!” is designed to introduce young listeners and their parents to the works of both classical composers and our contemporaries. Thus the listeners would learn how to understand the language of music.

“The main character” of each concert is a contemporary Russian composer, who will introduce a programme based on his or her own compositions, as well as of some favourite oeuvres of the centuries past. In conversation with curator and culturologist Anna Genina, they will discover how composer works.

Composer Elena Lebedeva, a resident from the city of Kostroma, made up her programme of her own compositions for string orchestra with bayan and oboe, as well as orchestral suites of Grieg’s “Peer Gynt”. Besides, her new piece “Tribute to Zaryadye” will be performed for the first time ever.

In her native Kostroma, Elena Lebedeva is a prolific musician. She is educator and theatre composer, to name a few of her activities. Works of Lebedeva are being performed in Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, Finland, and USA.

Yelena Vladimirovna Lebedeva would answer some of your questions during the concert, if you send them to icomposer@unioncomposers.ru
