There’s no secret that “Kreutzer Sonata” is the greatest violin masterpiece. It’s no wonder that this piece would be performed – along with 2 other Beethoven’s opuses – to mark the composer’s 250 years.
Prominent cellist Alexander Kniazev will play with pianist Basinia Shulman. The repertoire of the cellist includes virtually everything ever written for cello. But music endeavors of the cellist seem unlimited, for today he presents his arrangments for cello of Vienne’s classic violin sonatas.
In Russian and broad, Basinia Shulman is famous not only for her brilliant performances, or collaborations with Yuri Bashmet, Vadim Repin, or the Borodin Quartet. But, like Kniazev, she doesn’t want to limit herself to common performers’ standards. Playing classics, she would rather improvise, and indeed she plays with jazzmen. And she’s a frequent guest of radio and TV shows, while producing music projects or making up musical seasons in Arkhangelskoye and Polenovo.
