Mariinsky Stradivarius Ensemble plays on ancient string instruments that have unique sound since all of them were made by greatest Italian masters. In 2009, Mariinsky’s art director Valery Gergiev initiated foundation of the Ensemble. More than 20 musicians play at the Ensemble full time, with all of them being the best performers and soloists of the Theatre’s symphony orchestra. 

Each of the instruments they play on is itself a masterpiece with its own rich history. Due to beautiful timbres, those instruments made by Amati, Stradivari, Guarneri, Guadagnini, and Goffriller, popular and beloved classics sound different!
