Mozart
Maxim Emelyanychev, hammerklavier

At the end of November 2020, conductor and pianist Maxim Emelyanychev was nominated for the Grammy award in the category “Best Opera Recording” for the disc “Handel: Agrippina” – a concert performance of Handel's opera “Agrippina” by Il Pomo D'oro orchestra conducted by Maxim Emelyanychev with soloists Joyce Didonato, Franco Fagioli and others.

Today Maxim Emelyanychev will perform a program of sonatas and other works by Mozart on the piano, harpsichord and hammerklavier of Zaryadye Hall – an instrument by master Paul McNulty, a copy of the Walter & Sohn model (1805).

In 2018, the recording of these Mozart sonatas (No. 14, 16, 18) (label Aparté/ Tribeca) brought Maksim Yemelyanychev the prestigious French CHOC de CLASSICA prize, and in 2019 – the ICMA prize “for the best solo chamber recording”.

It is interesting that Emelyanychev also gained wide recognition among music lovers thanks to the Hammerklavier and Mozart. In 2014, he was awarded the Russian National Theater Prize “Golden Mask” for his performance of the Hammerklavier part in the Perm production of “The Wedding of Figaro” by Mozart (conducted by Teodor Currentzis). The wording was as follows: “for an impeccable sense of style and delight in precision in the recitatives of Mozart's opera The Marriage of Figaro.

This was followed by contracts with Decca and Sony labels, several discs and new awards, including two ECHO Klassik awards – for recording Haydn's concerts with Ricardo Minazi and the Il Pomo d'Oro (Sony Classic) orchestra, as well as recording In War and Peace with Joyce DiDonato (Warner Classics)
