The famous Amsterdam hall Concertgebouw is especially proud of its own jazz big band. In fact, Concertgebouw is the only philharmonic hall in the world to house its own jazz orchestra. 

Led by renowned American drummer Dennis Mackrel (Count Basie Orchestra, Carla Bley Big Band, Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Dizzy Gillespie All Star Big Band), the Jazz Orchestra consists of 17 of the best jazz musicians in the Netherlands: excellent soloists, improvisers and ensemble players. They tour around the world, performing at the best venues and prestigious festivals, like North Sea Jazz Festival and Java Jazz Festival. The Orchestra, in accordance with the noble American big band tradition, has its own vast repertoire.
