Europa Galante chamber orchestra

Conductor – Fabio Biondi (Italy)
Soloist – Ian Bostridge, tenor (UK)
Europa Galante, one of the best baroque ensembles of the world, was founded in 1990 by a virtuoso violinist and conductor Fabio Biondi. And almost immediately it was recognized as one of the leaders of authentic performance. The orchestra owes its name to one of the first ballets in history, the one conceived by 1697 by André Campra, but its vast repertoire stretches from XVII to early XIX centuries, from Alessandro Scarlatti’s oratorios to operas by Bellini or Verdi.

The season of 2018/19 sees Europa Galante tour the Old World with a programme made up of pieces by Dario Castello, Girolamo Frescobaldi, and Carlo Farina, as well as arias and madrigals by Claudio Monteverdi.

And the soloist is the prominent British singer Ian Bostridge!
