“Red Riding Hood”, first rehearsals with scenery

Today in “Zaryadye” Hall, the first rehearsal of Sergei Polunin’s premiere of “Red Riding Hood” took place. It was the first run of the ballet at the Grand Hall with full scenery, and journalists were invited to witness the new production. After the show, Sergei Polunin – “Woodsman” and mastermind of the ballet – together with composer Kirill Richter, director and choreographer Ross Freddie-Ray, and scenery designer Otto Bubeníček spoke on the process of creation of their fairy tale.

“When I was working on my role of Woodsman I was trying to understand his character, and to feel his drama, – Polunin told the journalists. – To play a surly and antisocial lumberjack is one task, but I have to dance, too, so the task becomes way more complicated”. Kirill Richter confessed to have used some pieces written by him in his 12 years. “I just wanted to dive deep in my childhood, so that the atmosphere of the spectacle be more magic”. Ross Freddie-Ray told journalists that there would be no traditional happy-end, but an open final, while Otto Bubeníček assured everyone that the premiere would strike audience with unique stylistic and light solutions.

Let us remind you of premiere dates at “Zaryadye”:
December 29, 2 PM & 7 PM; December 30, 12.00.

Tickets are sold via “Zaryadye” box office only
