In the 20th century, sir Jonn Eliot Gardiner, MBE, became one of the most influential performers of early music. He is historian, medievalist, who studied Old Spanish and Arabic languages in Cambridge. He wrote a comprehensive study on Bach "Music in the Heaven's Castle. A Portrait of Johann Sebastian Bach". Two times “Grammy” awardee, he’s a member of Grammophone’s magazine Hall of Fame. On September 26th, he came to Russia for the first time to play the only one concert in “Zaryadye”, with his lomg time collaborators, Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque Soloists.
