The night of one-act ballets SACRÉ,
to the music of Kroke band, and Stravinsky

Sergey Polunin and artists of leading European theatres

The world famous dancer Sergey Polunin presents the Russian premiere of one-act ballets SACRÉ at the Big Hall of “Zaryadye”. It’s the first ballet night in the concert venue. The night starts with a one-act ballet called “Fake Smile”, staged by English choreographer Ross Freddie-Ray to the music of Polish band Kroke. The oeuvre explores the nature on temptation, and how humans fight against it. Human acts and actions, as well as their influence upon a personality, are shown by the dancing. Nine dancers on stage uncover the inner world of one single character, with his thoughts, soul, and sufferings.

SACRÉ in the second part is a spectacle staged exclusively for Polunin by Japanese dancer and choreographer Yuka Oishi. SACRÉ, as its name implies, is an adaptation of Stravinsky’s “The Rite of Spring” (“Le sacre du printemps” in French). The plot of this very spectacle is based upon the life of Vaslav Nijinsky, and is dedicated to the legendary Russian ballet star.

Sergey Polunin is ballet dancer and movie actor. In 19 years old he became the youngest principal in the history of The Royal Ballet (London). In 2012-2016 Sergey was the principal of Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theatre and guest soloist at Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. In 2017 he became guest soloist of Bavarian State Ballet in Munich. He won the TV competition “Big Ballet” (Russian TV channel “Kultura”) as “Best Dancer”. In 2014 he became a “Golden Mask” theatre prize awardee, and accepted “Soul of the Dance” prize as “Best Dancer”, too.

In 2016 Sergey Polunin launched his movie career. To this day he has starred in several feature films, including “Murder on the Orient Express” directed by Kenneth Branagh, and “Red Sparrow” by Francis Lawrence.

In the same 2016 “Dancer” by Steven Cantor, the documentary about his life, was released.
