The music included in the program of this concert was created by outstanding Soviet composers in the pre-war and post-war times.

The culmination of the evening will be Dmitry Shostakovich's most performed work, the Chamber Symphony “In Memory of the Victims of Fascism and War.” This is an arrangement of the String Quartet No. 8 made by conductor Rudolf Barshai with the consent of the author. The performance will be accompanied by sand paintings by Artur Kirillov, one of the best masters of sand animation in the world.

Sviridov's chamber symphony for strings op. 14 was created in 1940. Throughout his life, the composer returned to it, constantly making changes to the score. For the first time, the symphony was performed only after the death of Georgy Vasilyevich. This work was introduced to the public by the  Chamber Orchestra “Solisty Moskvy“ oconducted by Yuri Bashmet.

Weinberg's Concertino for Violin and String Orchestra has been waiting in the wings for more than half a century. It was written in 1948, but was first performed only in 1999, three years after the death of the composer.

Shostakovich's Piano Concerto No. 1 was written in 1933 and performed the same year by the Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Fritz Stidri, a German conductor who fled to the USSR from Germany after the Nazis came to power. The solo parts of this concert will be performed by Konstantin Emelyanov, which became the opening of The International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2019, and Vladislav Lavrik, laureate of international competitions, participant of prestigious music festivals.
