Daniel Beckmann, organ (Germany)

The concert was postponed from 23 April 2021
Tickets for 23 April 2021 are valid.

At the age of 29 Prof. Daniel Beckmann was nominated as the first cathedral organist of Mainz (Germany) by Cardinal Karl Lehmann in 2010. Responsible for the liturgical and non liturgical organ music in the episcopal cathedral, he initiated the monthly organ matinees and the "Internationaler Orgelsommer", an international organ festival. Currently he is planning a major renovation of the cathedral organs. Since 2014 Beckmann taught an international organ class at the University of Music in Mainz. An active concert activity has led him to well known organs and music festivals in Germany and abroad. Daniel Beckmann has widely been honored with prestigious awards, of which the first prize at the International Organ Competition of Saint-Maurice (Switzerland/2009), a scholarship of the “Deutscher Musikwettbewerb” (Berlin/2005), the membership of the 50th National Selection of Young Artists of the "Deutscher Musikrat", the cultural Award of his home county (Olpe/2011) and the nomination as first “Mainzer Stadtmusiker” (2016) should be mentioned. Numerous TV, CD and broadcasting company productions complete his musical activities aswell as the membership of international organ competition juries. During his high school period Daniel Beckmann parallelly studied at the University of Music in Detmold (Germany). Later he passed all exams there (A-exam in church music, diploma and concert exam, equivalent to Masters of Arts) with special distinctions in organ interpretation and improvisation. His professors were Gerhard Weinberger (organ interpretation) and Tomasz Adam Nowak (improvisation). Numerous master courses complete this education. Between 2006 and 2010 he was employed in Paderborn as a regional church musician and taught organ interpretation at the local university as well.
