During his career, prominent Soviet composer Mikael Tariverdiev have written more than 130 sountracks. In 2002, Guinness Book of Records noted him as the holder of the record of the number of movie music awards. During his life, he was really popular: singable – or, rather, whistleable! – tunes were immediately recognizable by even non-musical persons. But his chamber oeuvres, vocal cycles, organ pieces, as well as operas, ballets, and concerts had been in obscurity until the death of the composer. Now those works find the way to wider audience – due to the enthusiast musicians, who promote his chamber and symphony music.

The forthcoming concerts at Zaryadye Hall are dedicated to the composer’s jubilee, so Tariverdiev’s music will be presented in it’s variety, ranging from well-known soundtracks to opera, instrumental concerts to vocal oeuvres. And this diversity is very important, since this music not only reflects the composer’s times, but things that are common to every person living in any times. The immortal music of Mikael Tariverdiev should not only belong to the beautiful past, but to the future. It’s 20th century heritage, as it should be.
