On the 1st of October, the International Day of Music, State chamber orchestra “Virtuosi Moskvy” (art director Vladimir Spivakov) is playing in “Zaryadye” Hall for the first time ever. 

In 2019, the famous collective celebrates its 40th birthday. It was 40 years ago that Vladimir Spivakov, a prominent virtuoso violinist, gathered best Moscow musicians to form a chamber orchestra that became “Virtuosi Moskvy” (“The Moscow Virtuosi”). Since then, “Virtuosi” have been playing in the best concert halls of the world: Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Viennese Musikverein, London’s Royal Festival Hall and Albert Hall в Лондоне, Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, Carnegie Hall in New York, as well as Suntory Hall and many others.

“Virtuosi Moskvy” tours either through all Russia, or post-Soviet countries. “For us, there’s no such thing as ‘a little man’, or ‘a small town’”, Vladimir Spivakov says. 

During each and every concert, “Virtuosi Moskvy” manage to achieve the main task: to move listener’s heart and to capture any audience, even the less experienced. Everyone is happy to get acquainted with music masterpieces when they are performed by the “Virtuosi”. 

Works of Part, Golovin, and Elgar are in the forthcoming concert’s set-list. 

This night, Alexander Rudin conducts the orchestra. Alexander Rudin is a prominent Russian conductor and cellist. 

The soloist is pianist and composer Alexey Kurbatov. 

Alexey Kurbatov is a Moscow Conservatory graduate. As pianist, he won several international competitions, among which the YAMAHA World Competition (2002) and Piano Competition in Madrid (2006). Pianist took park in culture programmes organized by V.Spivakov’s Fund, M.Rostropovich’s Fund, Russian Performance Art Fund, etc. He was and is a collaborator of such world stars as Spivakov, Mischa Maisky, Maxim Vengerov.

As composer, Alexey Kurbatov works in a few styles. He wrote both large symphony pieces, chamber music, opera and vocal music, soundtracks, and arrangements (for example, he made an adaptation of Stravinsky’s “The Rite of Spring”).
