Terem Quartet

Pioneering band, innovative band, and the first in history band-as-composer – this is all about Terem Quartet, that strikes the audience with its virtuosity, emotionality, humor and deep feeling. It wouldn’t take them to long to completely change the whole public attitude towards Russian ethnic instruments.

The thing is that it was Terem who by combining different styles created “Russian crossover”, or “theremism”, the latter term coined by Peter Gabrilel. Russian fairy tale and dream of the City of Kitezh, where different instruments, genres, and creative ideas happily coexist, is in the basis of the style.

Within the span of their 30-year long career, Terem Quartet played more than 3000 concerts. The band toured 65 countries, and recorded couple of dozens of CDs. Terem Quartet performed in Vatican for Papa, for Mother Teresa, for Prince Charles at St. James's Palace; the band was among the artists to perform during Group of Eight summit in St Petersburg, as well as at Olympics ceremonies in Barcelona, London, Vancouver, and Sochi, and was warming the audience during the Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow.
