Viktoria Mullova, violin (UK)

Alasdair Beatson, Hammerclavier (Scotland)
Victoria Mullova graduated from Moscow Concervatory, where her tutor was LeonidKogan, one of the greatest violin players of the 20th century. In 1982, Victoria received Gold Medal of Tchaikovsky competition, and in 1983 she fled this country. After her epic escape to the West she came back to her native Moscow only in 1991, with European Union Youth Orchestra conducted by Claudio Abbado.

The comeback was absolute triumph: the image of this “disobedient beauty” is etched in the memory of Russians for good. Mullova is a brilliant virtuoso, as well as a versatile musician. She is eequally great convincing playing authentic Bach, Beethoven, 20th century pieces, or even pop-classic crossover.

Victoria’s instrument of choice is Stradivari “Jules Falk”, made in 1723.
