Alexei Volodin was the winner of the 9th Concours Géza Anda in Zurich in 2003, and some other prestigious music contests. After his breakthrough winnings, he gave recitals all over the world. He often performs in Moscow and St Petersburg venues, as well as at the concert halls as famous Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Tonhalle (Zurich), Wigmore Hall and Royal Festival Hall (London), Lincoln Center (New York), Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, salle Pleyel and Philharmonie de Paris (Paris), Palau de la Música Catalana (Barcelona), Berliner Philharmonie, Alte Oper (Frankfurt), Herkulessaal and Gasteig (Munich), Konzerthaus (Vienna), La Scala, Suntory Hall (Tokyo) etc.

The National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia (NPR) was founded in January 2003 by the Ministry of Culture according to the special instruction of President Putin. In the Orchestra, top musicians and gifted youth joined their forces. During 17 years of activity, the NPR managed to become one of the best symphonic orchestras of Russia, and won admiration of the audience as well as professionals’ recognition. Vladimir Spivakov, a world-famous violinist and conductor, is the head of the Orchestra.
