Barbara Frittoli, soprano (Italy)

Mzia Bachturidze, piano
The name of Barbara Frittoli is famous all over the world. The favorite soprano of Ricardo Muti, the singer idolizes her patron and shares his attitude towards music. “I really appreciate his constant search and his respect of composer’s will – this approach characterizes his each and every interpretation”, the singer confesses. Barbara’s ability to fill every note with deep sense is really striking, as well as her singing manner. “Muti taught me how to exactly follow a score, to observe everything from single note’s duration to the subtlest nuance”.

It is interesting to find out that the famous singer originally wanted to become pianist, and with this purpose she studied in Milan conservatory. It’s only later that she started singing in a choir, and in the tender age of 12 she turned out to have a naturally trained voice.
“There was a certain moment when I started earning money for my singing, so I felt really puzzled, because people pay me money for something that I really enjoy and don’t have hard time doing at all!”

Today Barbara Frittoli is the most famous “Verdi’s soprano”, but when she sings Mozart she amazes, too. The program of Moscow’s concert is not her typical, so it’s twice as exciting!
