Dmitry Sinkovsky is one of the few Russian worldwide recognized baroque musicians. Moreover, he enjoys, so to say, triple recognition: as violinist, conductor, and countertenor. He is a Moscow Conservatory graduate. He started digging into historically informed performance under the guidance of Marie Leonhardt. Later he took part in clinics of such prominent musicians as Thomas Zehetmair, Sigiswald Kuijken, Sir Roger Norrington, Tugan Sokhiev, and Andreas Staier.

As a vocalist, he was a student of Michael Chance, Yana Ivanilova, Marie Daveluy. He studied art of opera and symphonic conducting with Sabrie Bekirova at Toulouse Conservatory, while his mentor of choir conducting was Tomislav Fačini, at the Academy of Music in Zagreb.

He is a laureate of international competitions n.a.Bach at Leipzig, Premio Bonporti in Rovereto, Musica Antiqua in Brugge, etc. As conductor, he tours Europe, Russia, Canada, Asia, Australia, and USA. He’s the leader of La Voce Strumentale, the band he himself founded in Moscow back in 2011. In 2018, he sang the title part in Handel’s “Lucio Silla” during Ludwigsburg Festival and Göttingen International Handel Festival (Ensemble 1700, conductor – Dorothee Oberlinger), and the next year he conducted Handels’ “The Triumph of Time and Truth”, a spectacle at Zaryadye Hall featuring Julia Lezhneva and La Voce Strumentale.

Dmitry Sinkovsky is a violin docent at the Moscow Conservatory.

His instrument of choice is a violin built by a Cremona master Francesco Rugeri (1675), provided by Netherland’s Jumpstart fund.

In 2020, “Muzykalnoye Obozreniye” magazine chose Dmitry Sinkovsky as “The Musician of the Year”.

Dmitry Sinkovsky won a few international music competitions: Bach Competition in Lepzig, Musica Antiqua Competition in Bruges, Teleman Competition in Magdeburg, and Austrian International Biber Competition. He frequently works with prominent musicians such as Teodor Currentzis, Andreas Scholl, Alexander Rudin, Skip Sempé…

Sinkovsky the countertenor sang duo with prominent soprano Julia Lezhneva and the famous Brandenburg Orchestra in Bolshoi Theatre.He is signed to Naïve, a classical French record label.

In the season of 2012/13 Sinkovsky the conductor led the Italian baroque orchestra Il Pomo d’Orо, which performed “Drama Queens”, a programme of mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato, during more than 30 shows in Europe, USA, and Asia.

Musica Viva's origins go back to 1978, when violinist and conductor Viktor Kornachev founded a musical ensemble of nine players – all young and enthusiastic, and recent graduates of Moscow's musical academies. By 1988 the ensemble had grown into a fully-fledged orchestra, now under the direction of Alexander Rudin – who also gave the group its name, Musica Viva – Latin for 'living music'.

Musica Viva today is an all-round musical ensemble which performs the widest possible range of compositions in all styles and genres with an assured confidence. The orchestra's thoughtful programming embraces seminal mainstream works alongside fascinating rarities.

The degree of immersion in music of many epochs has almost reached the level of musical archaeology. This was the basis behind the concert cycle of “Silver Classics”, which began in 2011. The repertoire of “Silver Classics” is music which was highly prized in its own era, yet which has somehow slipped through the chinks of today's concert repertoire. The performers in this cycle include a Young Artistes Program of soloists who have emerged from the ranks of European music competitions, as well as a “Cello Assembly” to which maestro Rudin invites his fellow cellists.

The orchestra is famous for its novelty programmes, where unknown masterpieces are introduced.

The orchestra has recorded over the twenty albums, released by international labels “Russky Sezon”, “Olympia”, “Nyperion”, “Tudor”, "Fuga Libera”, and “Melodiya”.
