Gala concert of the winners of the The Mikael Tariverdiev International Organ Competition

The winners of the forthcoming September Competition-2021 perform at the concert.

It was the uniqueness of Tariverdiev’s creative heritage, as well as originality and authencity of his organ works, that led to creation of the International Organ Competition in 1999. The Competition have been taken place at five continents ever since. The first round is divided into 3 parts, those in Lawrence (Kansas, USA), Hamburg (Germany), and Moscow. The city of Kaliningrad usually hosts both semi-final and final, and it’s no coincidence: the city was chosen due to its proximity to those European countries, founders of organ schools.

Nowadays, the Competition is an acclaimed contest in the realm of professional organ players. Its significance for organists equals to that of Tchaikovsky competition for pianists. Outstanding foreign musicians are in the jury, while winners become world leading organ players.
