Ethnosphere

“Ethnosphere” as the fresh breath of the ancient traditions. In fact, a festival that showcases some contemporary forms of Russia’s traditional music. So, it’s only natural that masters of the genre – as well as youth – perform here. It’s the only project in Russia that for 20 years has been promoting and championing Russian folk music, the traditional one, but using contemporary creative means of music art.

“Ethnosphere” is at the same time a festival and a community of professional musicians who play real contemporary Russian music.

“Of course, the deeper sources of Russian music remain intact, they are still there, this flame seems to keep on burning forever… It is all in our DNA, really… So, we should keep remains of what was torn down by the nightmare of The Revolution, keep what is left, and develop it. It’s really great that ‘Ethnosphere’ is the trend that creates brand new forms. Modern human being, who relates to the aforementioned powerful sources, creates that kind of modern music I call ‘Rissian music’”, composer Eduard Artemyev believes.
