“Ella Fitzgerald. The Present and the Past”
Moscow Jazz Orchestra

Patti Austin is the world’s only female singer with the title “Vocal Academic”.
She became sing professionally in the tender age of four – the Queen of Blues, Dinah Washington, introduced the young Patti to the astonished audience of “Apollo” Theatre in New-York. And today the singer is hailed as America’s national treasure!

R&B, pop, jazz, blues – Patti Austin never limits herself to a single style or genre. Throughout her career, she worked with top stars. Her duo with Michael Jackson “It's the Falling in Love” is in his 1979 album “Off the Wall”; “Mood for Love” is another star duo – with George Benson; she contributed her vocals to 1981 Quincy Jones album “The Dude”. There are 19 solo albums in Patti’s discography. “Avant Gershin”, released in 2007, earned her Grammy for “Best Jazz Vocal Album”. In 2002, Patti Austin released her tribute to her music hero – the legendary Ella Fitzgerald.

In “Zaryadye”, together with the Moscow Jazz Orchestra led by Igor Butman she presents one of her best concert programmes “Ella Fitdzgerald. Now and Then”. «My renditions of Ella's songs are not quite similar to hers, - the singer confesses, - I do sing them my way. But the sheer power of the music captures audience every time as the first time!”
