Solo performance “The Adventures of Dennis”

Narrator Mariya Golubkina

Live music – Jazz Ensemble led by Maxim Piganov.

“The Adventures of Dennis” is a collection short stories written by famous Soviet author Victor Dragunsky. The funny stories of a boy’s life were childhood reading for couple of generations of Russian people. Now, for the youngest it could be the very first book they’ll read in their lives.

On spring day of March 10, popular movie and TV actress Mariya Golubkina presents her solo show based on some novels of the collection. The collection itself is a real phenomenon of the twenty century’s Russian literature. The masterly written funny stories of the protagonist’s life, Dennis, raise serious questions: what is friendship, kindness, lies, and what is good and bad, in general. The narration is accompanied by live jazz of virtuoso trombonist Maxim Piganov, for the popular music of 1950-60 is mentioned in every story. So, Piganov’s band rearranged some Russian and foreign “golden hits” as well as children songs of the period into jazz.

And minimalist decoration and vivid imagination will help you travel to good old Moscow of the 50’s.
